Quick Tip: Get a Check on Your Mail
- Keep a recycle bin near your mailbox or wherever you bring in your mail. Put junk mail in it immediately. There's no need for that to ever enter your home.
- Set up a mailing station where you immediately drop the mail that comes into your home as well as what you would need to send mail out - stationery, stamps, envelopes etc.
- Schedule a time to regularly deal with your mail. This could be daily, weekly, etc. according to what works best for you. I like to deal with it as soon as I bring it in so I don't have to look at it sitting there. However, I do keep a small mail box at my desk to hold it when time doesn't allow me to deal with it immediately. Play around with different schedules until you find what works best for you.
Keep at it until the practice becomes permanent habit and mail will be only a tedious annoyance rather than nagging clutter.
