Redheaded Rant: 'Tis the Season for Bad Advice
It's the beginning of the year and that means one thing: New Year's Resolutions.
Now I love a good goal setting, challenge, or resolution as much as the next gal. However, I do NOT love stores taking advantage of this season to sell things in the name of "good organization."
The other day I was flipping through the catalog of a store that I love (name withheld to protect the not-so-innocent) when I came across this:
For the record, the only thing that even comes close to being an organizing tip is to "hang your towels where you can grab them." That works.
Everything else? Crap.
Not just crap, but crap that will only waste your money and add to your clutter!
Who wants to set a resolution like that?
If one of your resolutions is to create a clutter-free, organized home then the tips are simple:
Own only what you need, use, and love.
The item you need, use, and love, has a place where it lives, And when you're done using it, you put it back.
If you don't need it, use it and/or love it, then GET IT OUT OF THE HOUSE!
Pro tip: don't buy any organizing items or systems until you know what you need. Otherwise your purchases could end up being the very clutter you're trying to avoid.
