Tis the Season for Bad Advice
It's the beginning of the year and that means one thing: New Year's Resolutions.
Now I love a good goal setting, challenge and resolution as much as the next gal. However, I do NOT love stores taking advantage of this season to sell things in the name of "good organization." The other day I was flipping through the catalog of a store that I love but shall not be named when I came across this:
For the record, the only thing that even comes close to being an organizing tip is to "hang your towels where you can grab them." That works. Everything else? Crap. Not just crap. But crap that will only waste your money and add to your clutter!
And who wants to set a resolution like that?
If one of your resolutions is to create a clutter-free, organized home then the tips are simple:
- Own only what you need, use and love.
- Put it somewhere where you can find it when you need it and put it back when you're done.
If you don't need it, use it and/or love it, then GET IT OUT OF THE HOUSE!
And don't buy anything until you know what you need. Otherwise your purchases could end up being the very clutter you're trying to avoid.
If you want to "pour and spoon in style" then get a manicure and wear a fabulous cocktail ring whilst pouring and spooning.
